Such a rare thing happened to Neer'ra DeDuis, matron of the third house in the city of Aegran: rarely in their line was a male offspring, and after three daughters now she had twins, two boy of identical looks. She was thinking it was an odd sign, since twins are quite rare in the drow world, at least here where she lived. She named her sons Kelas and Barafein, and as there were no other sons in the family, one was destined to become a wizard and another one a fighter.
Growing up was also weird, as they could barely be kept apart. Although they were assigned to different teachers and doing different trainings, they spent each possible moment together always plotting how to do something they will be famous for.
Years of study at the academies did not keep them apart either, at least not spiritually. Although Barafein was destined to be a fighter, he was good at some basic spells and stuff that enabled the boys to communicate even when apart. His training was of course shorter, but at home he spent a lot of time in the library, maybe too much for a fighter and future Master of Arms for the house, but his mother and sisters did not care too much. Once Kelas was out of the academy too, they started plotting again.
Kelas, some out of wish to communicate with his brother, some out of the wish to do something to make them famous, and their House more respected, learned a lot about telepathy, but also was obsessed with teleportation possibilities. So far it was limited, because they lived underground and very few wizards in the history were known to be able to travel that way long distances. Their plan was to develop an item or a spell that would take them to the surface, where they would face darn elves and humans and bring items of power back home. Of course, they were too lazy to travel for days to the surface so that was their only option.
After years of trials and failures, Kelas finally came up with the formula: he created cloaks that should help them to go wherever they wish. Well, he thought it worked so.
The day came when they decided to try it out. Kelas was armed with his wands, and Barafein with his trusty sword. They put on their cloaks, recited magic words and poof!!!
They were at the surface, and the day was rather cloudy light was not to bad for their eyes. The view was wonderful, glorious mountains, green forests, snow on tops…things they have secretly read about in the libraries but could not picture what they looked like. They walked off the slope on which was a cave from which they exited. They saw some humanoid creatures in the distance, shouting and handling weird devices. They came closer, and at that moment they saw two figures approaching them. Those figures, an old man with white hair and staff and a blond haired elf with a bow did not see them at first, but they were yelling and coming at them as they fought some invisible enemy. Drow brothers decided to attack them before they are attacked and jumped at two creatures: Kelas grabbed the old man’s hair and cut off a piece, at the same time grabbing his wand and Barafein took elf’s bow and a piece of his left ear. They whispered magic words and were gone before two creatures realized what happened.
Coming home, they were telling stories and celebrated their success, showing their sisters and mother the items and trophies. After that, they burned the cloaks so no one else would manage to copy their venture.

NY Times: During the shooting of the last film of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy: Return of the King, Ian McKellen and Orlando Bloom claim to have been attacked by two black skinned, pointy eared creatures. The rest of the crew did not see anything, as they were practicing fighting scenes for the final battle for Minas Tirith, but were behind the rocks when this happened. The creatures, that disappeared, did not hurt them, only ruined Gandalf’s white wig and took his staff, while Legolas had to have his left ear replaced and provided with the new bow. Why those people were masked in fantasy costumes and painted in black, and what they intend to do with the stuff from the set is yet unknown as the items haven’t appeared on eBay yet.
